What Are All-on-4® Dental Implants?
All-on-4® is a dental implant procedure for one or two arches of artificial teeth that provide greater bite force than dentures.
All-on-4® dental implants may be an option if you are missing multiple teeth, have severe gum disease or tooth decay, or cannot otherwise have your teeth restored.
The All-on-4® procedure involves replacing your teeth with an arch of long-lasting, artificial teeth. These teeth are supported on four strategically placed dental implants—two at the front and two at the back in the upper or lower jawbone. This allows the new arch of teeth to be secure while also being less invasive than some traditional full-mouth dental restoration options.
At Next Smile Sydney, we follow the clinically proven Malo Protocol for the All-on-4® procedure. Pioneered by Dr. Paulo Malo, the creator of the All-on-4® concept, the Malo Protocol is a two-bridge treatment process with a 98% success rate.
In the first stage, any remaining teeth you may have are removed, and the dental implants are placed. You are then fitted with your first set of ‘provisional’ teeth. You will wear these teeth for three to six months as your jawbone fuses with the dental implants. This also allows you to get used to the appearance and feel of the teeth and make any adjustments for your final set.
In stage two, you receive your final set of long-lasting teeth, crafted onsite at our Next Smile Australia Labs and made from the highest quality Nobel Biocare components.

Dr Larry Benge has over 40 years of experience in dentistry. His practice has an emphasis on reconstructive, aesthetic, and implant dentistry, specifically the All-on-4® treatment concept of full-arch restoration.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1980 with first-class honours in Dental Science, having first completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours at Monash University. Before partnering with Dr Paulo Malo to bring the All-on-4® treatment philosophy to Australia, Dr Larry Benge was the Principal at Bond Street Dental in Melbourne.
With over 40 years in dentistry, Dr Larry Benge has lectured, published, and studied locally and internationally. He is well-regarded and respected by his peers and is the lead surgeon and clinical authority for Next Smile Australia clinics.

Mr Robert Dulieu is the owner of Next Smile Australia Sydney and is a registered dental prosthetist, ceramist, and dental technician. Mr Robert Dulieu attended a clinical residency in All-on-4®, implants and restorative care at MALO Clinic in Portugal and was personally mentored by Dr Paulo Malo. Mr Robert Dulieu is also a keynote speaker on All-on-4® programs.

Originally born in Wollongong and raised in England, Dr Ryan O’Halloran has a diverse background, including living and working in London, Orange, and Newcastle.
Dr O’Halloran’s journey into dentistry began with a deep passion cultivated during his time in dental publishing, which led him to earn his Bachelor of Dental Science from Charles Sturt University in 2016. His publishing experience has honed his listening skills and underscored the importance of clear communication in delivering personalised care. Patients of all ages appreciate Dr O’Halloran’s calm and approachable demeanour, thorough assessments and detailed explanations of treatment options. Alannah graduated as an Oral Health Therapist from the University of Sydney in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in oral health. For the past nine years, Alannah has been working in general practice, focusing on patients of all ages and treatment needs. Alannah now works exclusively in Bondi Junction for Next Smile Australia and Dental Fresh, providing specialist maintenance care to their All-on-4® implant and general dental patients.
In 2023, she was introduced to the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master and Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT®). The care that could be matched with her attention to detail for her implant patients improved significantly, which led Alannah to become an SDA EMS Ambassador. She is passionate about providing education not only to her patients but also to her colleagues in maintaining All-On-4® implants.
Alannah loves to read new dental textbooks in her spare time and learn from others with their research articles. She is a firm believer in upskilling and staying on the front foot of education. She is an approachable clinician who is always open to learning more about dental hygiene techniques and worldwide information from other professionals.

The main advantage of the All-on-4® procedure is that it allows you to carry out a full arch restoration without the need for bone grafting and to have immediate temporary teeth (immediate load).
It typically requires only one operation of shorter duration compared with other forms of full arch rehabilitation (fixed teeth) that may include bone grafting.
The Next Smile Australia method has a high success rate, 95-98% in most individuals over a 10-year period*.
You can select the teeth aesthetics that you want and most importantly, you have the opportunity to try the teeth for three months during osseointegration (healing phase) before proceeding to the full titanium/acrylic teeth.
If you break a tooth on your final prosthesis our team in the onsite Next Smile Sydney Lab are able to repair it relatively quickly and easily.
